Nobody really asks what a trip costs. They ask what happens if it goes wrong. Here are eight answers.
Travel is paid in full, weeks ahead, for something you cannot inspect.
Almost nothing else people buy carries that much risk at once. So every question below is really the same question wearing a different coat.
Are you a real company, or will my money disappear?
Trading since 2015 from the same border crossing. MSME certified — a registered business, not an individual with a phone. Five people. A physical office at the Jaigaon gate that you can walk into on any working day. A scammer does not keep a border office for eleven years.
Will the price change later?
One quoted price covering hotels, vehicle, driver, guide, permits, the SDF, breakfast and dinner. Lunch is not included, and we say so before you ask rather than after you have paid. Naming what is excluded is the part that matters — anybody can list inclusions.
Will the hotel look like the photographs?
Your itinerary carries, for every hotel: photographs, a link to the hotel's own website, and its Google listing with its public reviews. You are checking our claim against a source we cannot edit. Vehicle details are in there too, so the car is known before you see it.
What happens if something goes wrong while I am there?
The trip organiser stays in contact for the whole journey, not just the first morning. One driver and one vehicle for the entire route, so somebody who knows the plan is always with you. Being local on both sides of the gate means a network of contacts across Bhutan and North Bengal — if a hotel, a vehicle or a road creates a problem at any hour, a backup already exists.
I do not understand how any of this works.
Then that is our job before it is yours. Permits, pickup, weather and how each day runs are all explained before you travel. The full itinerary comes before any money is discussed. A voucher follows your 20% advance. Your exact pickup point and time arrive three days before departure.
Are you the operator, or a middleman?
The operator. Many booking sites take your money and hand the trip to somebody else, which is how a promise made in one place stops being true in another. We run the trip ourselves.
Can you handle my parents, my children, or a large group?
Yes to all three, and they need different itineraries. Elderly travellers do better on the 6N/7D with its shorter driving days, and the Tiger's Nest climb can be ridden by horse to the cafeteria or skipped. Large groups get multiple vehicles and a lower per-person price.
Why not just take the cheapest quote?
Because a quote far below the market is usually excluding the SDF — ₹1,200 per adult per night, which is ₹7,200 on a six-night trip — or using hotels you would not choose. Ask any operator two questions: is SDF included, and which hotels, by name.
